Worthington, MN USA – The 11th Annual Worthington BiO Conference is April 9th and 10th, 2015. Worthington BiO is an annual gathering of bio-business industry, researchers, and business leaders. “This conference is a great opportunity to showcase the region’s health and bio-businesses sectors and provide networking opportunities,” said Jason Vote, Chairman of the Worthington Regional Economic Development Corp. WREDC is the private public partnership charged with organizing the annual conference.
Throughout its short history, the conference featured international industry leaders such as Dale Wahlstrom, Doug Berven of POET, Mark Ritchie former Minnesota Secretary of State among others. From the start, Worthington Bio Conference set out to create a meeting place where the scientific, value added agriculture business, and entrepreneurs come together for few days, talk shop, and build enduring relationships.
“As a regional urban center Worthington houses number of growing vaccine research, development, and production companies such as Merck, Sanofi, and Newport Labs along with others, it seems the area is developing critical mass to support robust bio technology sector” Said Abraham Algadi, Executive Director of Worthington Regional Economic Development Corp.
This annual event has been very successful in highlighting the deep roots of bio-science as it relates to farming and animal health. This year the program features researchers and speakers from Iowa Bio, South Dakota Bio, Minnesota Life Science Alley, University of Minnesota, and U of MN office of Economic Development along with U of MN Bio-technology Center. It also features Worthington Middle School Science Club sharing their science projects with conference attendees. Worthington’s bio-science based businesses have a story to share, they also want to listen and learn from our partners throughout the region and Worthington Bio offers such opportunities.
In addition to traditional offerings, the conference highlights locally produced wine from Round Lake Vineyards & Winery. Scott Ellenbecker said this would be a special occasion for Round Lake Vineyards & Winery since this would be their first commercial bottling season.
